Mergers and Acquisitions
Our team has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions in passenger ground transport going back to the privatisation of the bus industry in the UK in the early 1990’s then subsequently in bus, coach, rail and private hire car deals in Europe and the Middle East. We have acted as lead advisors both to sellers and acquirors and our principals have served on the board of successful, acquisitive private equity-backed companies. Our experience includes several privatisation acquisitions in both bus and rail and also deals involving competition authority supervision and complex public sector pensions issues.
Our approach to M&A is highly process driven. We have deep expertise and years of hands-on experience of managing all stages of a deal from origination through preparation, evaluation, marketing (if we are acting sell-side), deal negotiation, due diligence and deal execution. We also have world-class capability and experience in post-acquisition integration including, in the passenger transport context (for example), route rationalisation, franchise renegotiation, restructuring pay and conditions, revenue yield improvements and reviewing and improving engineering practices and compliance arrangements Our director Iain Campbell is a lawyer and chartered accountant with extensive international experience in commercial law, including specialist passenger transport law and regulation. Our team of consultants have expertise in all technical areas of transport planning, operations, finance and engineering.
FC Transport Consultants have worked with some of the world’s leading passenger transport companies and transport authorities. Through our experience we appreciate and are sensitive to social, economic and cultural factors that we come across in our international work. We have a proven track record of developing innovative solutions that can get deals done in any environment.
